Becki Newton Overview
Becki Newton comes from a talented family, with her mother and all distinguished artists in their own right, and she had already participated in summer stock and several local productions since the age of 13. Then, not long after graduating from the University of Pennsylvania, she began her career as an actress. She relocated to New York, and threw herself into Broadway tryouts. Soon, she began getting work in commercials, and television shows, and her career was off to the races until she played in several best TV shows.
Previous TV Shows
In 2006, Becki Newton did a screen test for a role in the upcoming TV series Ugly Betty and landed the role of Amanda Tanen. She would go on to play a major part in that series for the next four years, through 85 episodes, and that cemented her reputation as a first-class actress. Next, in 2015, she played as Caryn Goldfarb, a high-strung dental hygienist who was engaged to be married but suddenly decides to call off her engagement after a brief fling with Stosh in Weird Loners. A year after that, she plays in Divorce as Robert’s new love interest, Jackie, a single mother and successful career woman, in her own right.
The Lincoln Lawyer
The Lincoln Lawyer was released in 2022 and was based on the best-selling crime novels by Michael Connolly, specifically the second book in the series, The Brass Verdict. In this show, Becki Newton, who was well known in her best acting from Ugly Betty, played as co-worker Lorna and she gets to show the audience a whole new side of herself in this role as the ambitious and outgoing Lorna.
The Lincoln Lawyer season 2 was finally streaming on Netflix. After the events of last season, Mickey Haller, played by Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, starts the second season on a high. He was LA’s hottest defense attorney, and he was taking on more high-profile cases. His second ex-wife, Lorna, played by Becki Newton, spends the first half of season 2 still working as Mickey’s legal assistant, known office manager, but also reenrolled in law school and focusing on wedding planning with her fiancé Cisco.
Recently, The Lincoln Lawyer has been renewed for a third season at Netflix that will consist of 10 episodes following a successful sophomore turn that saw the series reach the Top 10 in 81 countries. Season 3 will be based on The Gods of Guilt, the fifth book in Michael Connelly’s Lincoln Lawyer series.
The show still follows Mickey Haller, an iconoclastic idealist who runs his law practice out of the back seat of his Lincoln as he takes on cases big and small across the expansive city of Los Angeles. Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez as co-showrunners and executive producers said that the audience response to the show has been so gratifying and wonderful, and they were thrilled to have the opportunity to dive back into Michael Connelly’s universe and bring Mickey Haller and his world to the screen again.
