In the 10th season of a popular reality TV show called The Masked Singer, a trial-blazing LGBT icon and sports Legend was uncovered. This happens in the fifth episode of the season. Both the judges and audience revealed that the Royal Hen was in fact Billie Jean King, who is the former tennis player champion and a lifelong advocate for LGBTQ+ rights.
How Did It Happen?
Kings and masking became a historic moment for the show as it was the first time a gay athlete openly competed on The Masked Singer. Undoubtedly, it became a powerful statement of support for the lgbtq community as King used her popularity and influence to speak out against prejudice and discrimination.
The Royal Hen on the TV show The Masked Singer was a mysterious character whose identity was kept secret because the person under the cover was the famous Billie Jean King. This contestant broke all previous records at the show as she was exceptionally talented with 40 medals, 7 Hall of Fame Awards, 33 Grammy nominations, 3 Lifetime Achievement Awards, and over 50 Tattoos on herself.
Not only this, but the costume Billie uses is also special. It was the first time in the history of the show that this costume was used. Originally, the character was seen as the French Hen from the previous season but made a mindblowing comeback this time. The show's judges include Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Nicole Scherzinger, Robin Thicke, and Ken Jeong. Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg guessed Rita Moreno, Robin Thicke guessed Gloria Steinem, Nicole Scherzinger guessed Dr. Ruth, and Ken Jeong guessed Billie Jean King
Ken Jeong’s streak continues with correctly guessing the contestant behind the mask. Though we don’t know how he does it, every correct guess shocks the audience and fellow judges alike.
Performance on the reality TV show The Masked Singer was nothing short of spectacular. She sang numerous hit songs including Don't Stop Believin’, and I Will Survive, with her signature style, power, and passion. After revealing her identity, King spoke about her experience on the show and the real reason behind completing it. She wanted to represent people like her and wanted to show the world that LGBT people are just like everyone else and they can even achieve anything they just said their mind to. She also said she wanted to live her life inspiring other people and helping them live their lives to their fullest. She said, "I'm really proud to be here as an openly gay woman, and I hope that I can inspire other people to be themselves and to be proud of who they are"
This gesture of Billie Jean King proves to everyone that people like her can also be as talented and successful as they want to be.
