When we talk about evergreen, Outbreak is the first movie that comes to mind. Released in 1995, Outbreak centers around the outbreak of a fictional Ebola-like virus, Motaba, in a country in Africa and later in a small town in the United States. To combat the virus from spreading, the U.S. Army and the CDC scramble to take strong measures which are necessary but also a bit extreme causing both political and personal conflicts along the way.

Quarantine leans more towards horror than science fiction but if you’re one who has love for scary movies then Quarantine is a good pick. The movie centers on a television reporter and her cameraman, who are both trapped inside a building quarantined by the CDC due to the outbreak of a mysterious virus that has turned people into violent killers.

4. Monkeys (1995)

Monkey is another old but golden movie that have stood the test of time. Compared to Contagion, this TV series is arguably better and is a gripping sci-fi all the same. The movie tells the story of a convict sent back in time to stop a deadly man-made virus from releasing, which has killed more than half of the world’s population in the future. While monkey adds a bit of science fiction to its storyline, it is very similar to contagion as the movie also revolves around a deadly virus which can end the whole of human race if not stopped from being released into the world.

Doomsday is an action movie set in a future where Scotland has been quarantined thanks to a deadly virus. When the virus is then found in London, a team is sent into the quarantine zone to find a possible cure from the survivors. Both contagion and doomsday explore what the state of the world would be like if a deadly virus outbreak occurs and also shows the tireless efforts of the government to find a cure. However, Doomsday has a lot more action than contagion making a must watch.

6. Panic In The Streets

The last on our list is Panic in the streets. This movie goes back decades and was released in 1950 and directed by Elia Kazan. If you look past the black and white coloring of the movie, you’ll definitely be glued to your sit. The movie tells the story of Clint Reed, a U.S. Public Health Service Lieutenant Commander who discovers that a homicide victim in New Orleans actually carries a dangerous strain of pneumonic plague and Reed believes that the suspected killer is the one carrying and spreading the disease to his victims. In order to save the country from the outbreak of a deadly plague, Reed and his men have 48 hours to stop the killer. But the issue is the cops are skeptical, and the public has to stay in the dark to avoid an unhelpful panic. While the killers on the other hand try to hide from the authorities for fear of being arrested unknowing to them that they are carrying the germs of a deadly virus.
