According to records filed with the Onondaga County Clerk's office in 2019, the veteran broadcast journalist acquired a residence on Skaneateles Lake upstate for a staggering $7 million. The property, constructed in 1890, spans 4,300 square feet and features six bedrooms, two kitchens, three bathrooms, and a magnificent fireplace, providing ample space for him and his companion, Axel. 

David, who hails from Syracuse and was raised in Onondaga Hills, was born to Ronald Muir and Pat Mills, who separated early but maintained an amicable co-parenting relationship. Additionally, he has an elder sister, Rebecca Muir, who operates a farm in Borodino, New York, and two younger half-siblings from his father's subsequent marriage.
