James William Buffett is a legendary singer-songwriter; in his over five-decade-long career, Jimmy was mostly renowned for his cool aesthetic. His upbeat party tunes, including "Cheeseburger in Paradise," "Fins," and "Margaritaville." 

Jimmy had a successful writing career in addition to his singing career. He wrote several well-regarded novels, including A Salty Piece of Land, Tales from Margaritaville, and his memoir, A Pirate Looks at Fifty, which was on the New York Times hardback bestseller list at its publication.

The musician also had a keen sense of business and established a chain of Margaritaville inns and eateries. Additionally, he distributed Landshark beer under the Margaritaville brand. Buffett amassed a $1 billion net worth at the age of 76, making him one of the richest artists in the world.

According to the National Cancer Institute, Merkel cell carcinoma is a highly uncommon condition where skin cancerous cells develop. It is 

known in medical literature, is extremely uncommon, and tends to spread swiftly, especially to areas of the body other than the skin. Risk factors include significant sun exposure, a compromised immune system, a family history of various malignancies, having pale skin, and being over 50.

According to the statement, he had been performing while battling illness for four years, most recently making an unexpected performance in Rhode Island in early July.

In May of this year, Buffett was hospitalized for an unexplained ailment that ''required quick treatment,'' causing his scheduled concerts to be postponed. Buffett passed suddenly a few months later.

 The singer of ''Margaritaville'' is left by his wife Jane, daughters Savannah and Sarah, son Cameron, grandson Marley Ray, and a loyal pack of dogs named Lola, Kingston, Pepper, Rosie, Ajax, and Kody.
