According to inside sources, Cruise was able to make such a huge figure due to a package which stipulates that the actor and Top Gun: Maverick producer gets a cut of streaming revenues and ticket sales as well as his upfront fee.The entire budget for Top Gun: Maverick was $170 million, so you can see why Cruise’s final pay was all the more remarkable. And to show Cruise’s iconic rise to fame since the 1986 release of Tony Scott’s Top Gun film, the budget for the first installment was just $15 million. This means that inflation aside, Cruise made over six times the entire budget of the first film.
The 36-year-later sequel has now brought in over $1.2billion worldwide - and counting. It took just one month for the film to cross the billion-dollar mark, becoming Cruise’s first ever film to do so. The Paramount Pictures president and CEO Brian Robbins was also surprised and overwhelmed by the success of the movie stating; It’s rare to get the special kind of alchemy that creates a true event film, and we have been absolutely blown away by the global response to Top Gun: Maverick.According to Paramount, 16 percent of the sequel’s viewers have seen Top Gun: Maverick at least twice, while four per cent have seen the film more than four times. The film has become Paramount’s domestic highest-grossing movie of all time.
The movie is also currently ranked as one of the top grossing movies of all times. Earning both the producers, directors, and the stars in the movie more money, fame, and recognition.Showing just how astonishing Cruise’s salary is, the next best-paid actor coming right after him is Will Smith, who was paid $35 million for the film Emancipation. The 2022 action thriller, which was directed by The Magnificent Seven director Antoine Fuqua behind the camera was based on a true story of Gordon. According to Variety media outlet, the next best-paid actors are Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio who both earned $30 million. DiCaprio is being paid $30 million for Martin Scorsese’s American Western crime drama Killers of The Flower Moon, while Pitt is got $30 million for the drama about Formula 1.
Surprisingly Cruise isn't the first actor to make up to $100 million from a movie. According to sources, Will Smith was reported to have earned around that sum for Men in Black 3.There is a huge chance that Cruise is likely to use the same system to earn another massive salary in the recently released Mission: Impossible films. Reportedly the actor was paid around $12 million to $14 million for the role, but then will get a cut from ticket sales even before the studio has made its money back.
Apart from making money through acting, Tom Cruise also makes real estate investments that earns him cool cash. The actor has real estate holdings all over the world, though, within the last decade, he has not listed or sold many of his properties.Over the years he had sold over three of his properties and made more than 10 million dollars in profit from the sales.
