Selena Gomez deleted an Instagram post after accidentally breaking the rules of the ongoing actors’ strike.

Gomez, who is the third most-followed person on the social media platform, recently shared a black-and-white photo from the set of Only Murders in the Building to promote Season 3 of the Hulu series in which she stars.

“Missing and waiting @onlymurdershulu,” the multi-hyphenate, 31, captioned the since-deleted upload, which violated SAG-AFTRA’s clearly stated order to all members to withhold participation in and promotion of any productions in film or television made under a SAG-AFTRA agreement.

This includes giving interviews, sharing content and being present for premieres as well as attending festivals, awards shows and conventions.

“girl the sag strike????” one critic commented, as another added, “you are still on strike, delete it for your own good!!!”

“Tone deaf,” someone else remarked, which was followed by others who branded the move “just so inconsiderate.”

“This is direct violation. You’re not supposed to mention your work, any work ’cause social media posts equal to promotion of said work. She is in BIG trouble. Possible blacklisting ’cause this is DIRECT VIOLATION of the promotion rules. Yikes,” a fifth user pointed out, while yet another dissenter suggested the actress “stick to the rules, or ship out.”

The dual labour union — which covers both the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists and represents more than 160,000 movie and TV stars — has been on strike since last month after it was unable to reach an agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) — the trade association that represents more than 350 major studios and streaming giants — for proper compensation, benefits and protection.

Meanwhile, the Writers Guild of America (WGA) — which represents 11,500 screenwriters — has been on strike since May over similar demands, all of which has brought Hollywood to a screeching halt.

Then earlier this month, SAG-AFTRA publicly backed Real Housewives of New York City star Bethenny Frankel’s efforts to unionise reality stars and end “exploitative practices” within the industry.

In a lengthy memo titled “SAG-AFTRA Statement on the Representation and Protection of Reality Performers,” the organisation stated that it had “engaged in discussions” with Frankel’s attorneys about her legal war against NBC and its subsidiary Bravo regarding the networks’ “widely consumed reality TV universe.”

According to SAG-AFTRA, “reality performers” are eligible to be covered “under our Network Code Agreement,” pending “the structure of the production and the performers involved.”

Back in June, social media buzzed with news about Selena Gomez causing a stir when she unfollowed Dua Lipa on Instagram. As often happens when celebrities unfollow each other, rumors of a feud and a potential argument quickly spread. It took three months, but the singer of «Single Soon» has finally addressed the issue, putting an end to the gossip and explaining what actually happened.

Selena told Fast Company that there was no fight at all; it was simply ‘an accident.’ She admitted that she hadn’t even realized she had unfollowed the renowned «Dance The Night» singer. In her words, “I was just cleaning up some of my Instagram. Then somebody called me and was like, ‘What happened with Dua?!’”

Despite the initial controversy, both singers have remained friends and have made a point of demonstrating their friendship on social media. Dua Lipa, famous for «New Rules,» even sent Selena a gift from her new Versace collection amid all the rumors. In response, Selena posted a story on her Instagram profile, expressing her gratitude for the package.

A few days later, she surprised everyone by sharing a photo of herself wearing the gifted outfits. In her post, she wrote, ‘Thank you, queen,’ and tagged Dua’s official account. Whether it was an accident or not, one thing is evident: the two are on good terms now, and Selena Gomez has re-followed Dua Lipa on Instagram.

The singer and actress has faced various health challenges, both mental and physical, in recent years, which is why she decided to take a temporary break from the media spotlight. In fact, she hasn’t gone on a concert tour since her ‘Revival Tour’ in 2016. However, there’s good news for Selena’s fans, because she will soon announce the release date of her next studio album. This album, which will likely be accompanied by a concert tour, will be her seventh studio release and will follow Rare, an album that came out in 2020 but did not have a corresponding tour.
