The marriage between Bijou Phillips, aged 43, and Danny Masterson, aged 47, has ended. Less than two weeks after Danny Masterson was sentenced to 30 years in prison on two counts of rape, Bijou Phillips filed for divorce. The divorce documents were reportedly filed on September 18.

The statement further acknowledged the immense difficulty this period brought the marriage and the family. It also recognised Mr Masterson's consistent support for Ms Phillips during the most challenging moments of her life and his role as a wonderful father to their daughter. 

According to the documents obtained, Bijou has indicated their separation date as "To Be Determined" and cited the customary grounds of "irreconcilable differences" as the cause for their separation. It has been reported that she seeks spousal support and reimbursement for legal expenses from her estranged spouse.

Visitation is permitted

Furthermore, Bijou is requesting the restoration of her legal surname to Phillips. She has also expressed her desire to obtain both "legal and physical custody" of their daughter while reportedly allowing visitation rights for Danny. 

The individual known for their role in That 70s Show has recently been sentenced to a term of 15 years to life for each of the two counts of rape charges that he was found guilty of. Danny was convicted on these charges on May 31, 2023.

Less than four months later, on September 7, 2023, in Los Angeles, the 47-year-old received an official sentence of 30 years to life imprisonment. During the sentencing of Danny Masterson, Judge Charlaine Olmedo directly addressed the defendant, emphasizing that it is imperative for him to comprehend that he is not the aggrieved party in this particular legal matter. 

Your actions, committed 20 years ago, robbed another individual of their voice and choice." Olmedo asserted that Masterson's actions were criminal, ultimately leading to his current situation.

Despite vehemently denying the allegations throughout the trial, Masterson was found guilty. Recently, various celebrities, including former Scientologist and actress Leah Remini, have responded to Masterson's sentencing. Masterson and his soon-to-be ex-wife were married in 2011 and welcomed their daughter, Fianna Francis, in February 2014. 

However, just before Bijou's filing for divorce, sources close to the matter claimed that she had no intention of ending her marriage to Masterson. The insider revealed that despite the conviction, Bijou loves Masterson and will stand by his side throughout the ordeal.
