Forty one  year old Michael Paul Sorrentino  also known as The Situation, is an American television personality who starred on all six seasons of the MTV reality show Jersey Shore from 2009 till 2012. He later returned to the franchise with Jersey Shore: Family Vacation.

Jersey Shore is an American reality television series that aired on  MTV. The series introduces the audience to the lives of eight people living in the same house during their vacation. The show became a pop culture phenomenon with immense success and hooked episodes.It was loved by the audience, its incredible success in the reality tv industry motivated the creators to expand their franchise further. Hence,  In 2017, a one-off television special called Reunion Road Trip: Return to the Jersey Shore was aired on the E! Network along with another series which was a  branch of the same show Jersey Shore: Family Vacation. Apart from that, a spin-off series, All Star Shore, was released in 2022, that stars many international reality stars from around the world who live together in a vacation house in order to compete for $150,000 as a prize.

Jersey Shore star Michael Sorrentino was released from prison Thursday after serving time for tax evasion from federal prison in Otisville, New York.  "We are elated to finally close this chapter of our life. Thank you to our family, friends and fans for the continuous love and support during this time, it brought us so much peace and comfort," said a statement made on the behalf of the reality TV personality through his representatives and team. Sorrentino was sentenced to eight for eight months after he was found guilty in early 2018 to one count of tax evasion. Not only him, but also his brother Marc Sorrentino, was accused of filing falsified tax returns on nearly $9 million. Sorrentino on the other hand, was also sentenced to two years of supervised release, 500 hours of community service and a $10,000 fine. He was forced to pay $123,000 in restitution as a mandatory amount.  His brother was sentenced to two years in prison for the multiple fraud attempts and eventually being able to succeed in them.

Michael Sorrentino skyrocketed into immense fame in late 2009 after being cast for the MTV's reality series Jersey Shore. The plot of the show revolved around a group of young men and women living in a house in Seaside, New Jersey. One out of nine allegations accused Sorrentino of concealing his original income so that he doesn't get fully taxed. He frequently used to make cash deposits lesser than $10,000 in order to hide them from the IRS. The entire cast of Jersey Shore went to Sorrentino's sentencing in a show of support. During his sentencing, Sorrentino told the judge that he was trying to overcome different life struggles after years of drug and alcohol abuse.
