Rachel’s Film Career

Rachel Hannah Weisz is a British actress, she was born on 7 March 1970. She began her career in stage and television production in the early 1990s. Rachel’s first debut film was Death Machine (1994). Rachel Weisz won a Critics' Circle Theatre Award for her role in the 1994 revival of Noël Coward's play Design for Living. In 1999, Rachel appeared in the Donmar Warehouse production of Tennessee Williams' drama Suddenly, Last Summer. Rachel’s role as Evelyn Carnahan was her breakthrough in the Hollywood action films The Mummy (1999) and The Mummy Returns (2001).

She won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress For her performance as an activist in the 2005 thriller The Constant Gardener and she won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress for her role as Blanche DuBois in a 2009 revival of A Streetcar Named Desire. She won the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role and received a second Academy Award nomination, for her role as Sarah Churchill in The Favorite.

The movie The Favorite was released in 2018, and directed by Yorgos Lanthimos. The movie is showing the historical period of 18th-century England during the reign of Queen Anne. Rachel played the role of Sarah Churchill, an advisor and a confidant to Queen Anne played by Olivia Colman. Sarah has a strong influence over the Queen's decisions both politically and personally, she is a true power player. Queen's advisor Sarah is known for her manipulative and strong personality and she loves the Queen wholeheartedly but she also gets fierce if someone comes between them.

Rachel says of her character, She’s so many things: cool and cruel and vulnerable, she added, My character is a serious chess player,  Weize’s performance is notable because she handled the complexities of the role with ease, she delivered a difficult performance as Darah Chucrchill. Great instances of Weisz's exceptional acting include her command of handling political and social topics as well as her ability to deliver witty, cutting lines. Weisz performed the character with incredible clarity and attention to detail. The connection between Weisz and Olivia is a big part of the movie's success; their on-screen chemistry is electric and adds grace to the picture.  The best illustration of Weisze's remarkable acting abilities and commitment to her art is how she brought Sarah Churchill's character to life with such depth and sincerity.
