Troian Bellisario, a Hollywood actress was thrown into the spotlight when she got a chance to play a role in “Pretty Little Liar,” playing the role of Spencer as soon as she finished her theater school. Although the show ran for seven seasons, there was one particular moment that changed her life and career from the first season. On day one of the shooting, Troian got into a heated discussion with a writer over one of her role’s lines.

She recalled the conversation saying, “I was like, ‘I don’t really know if she would say it like that, maybe we should try it like this and then say it like that. And he was like, ‘I really need you to just say the line.’”

Though she was upset with the response of the writer, it sparked a new inspiration in her.  She responded,  ‘Fine, you don’t want me to have input here? I’ll put my creative impulses somewhere else.” And, she very much went true to her words by writing and eventually producing her very own short film. Then, she went on to write another featured film, Feed.

Even now she credits her conversation with the writer as the reason she is a writer as well. She recalls, “It’s important to make your concerns and impulses heard, but there’s absolutely a time and a place.”

“Now, as a writer, I totally respect that. That’s what I learned on Pretty Little Liars. This isn’t the time and place for me to exercise that part of me, but that made me go on my own path. Sometimes somebody saying ‘no’ means that they are not the right person to help you do that. Don’t wait for somebody else to give you a chance because you could just be waiting around forever.”

However, Troian still feels like an outsider in Hollywood even though she was very much connected with the industry due to her producer parents.
