After the Ginuwine incident, the reflection comes from the era when NSYNC was mesmerized by Black artists, but according to Britney Spears, the group tried too hard to fit in. Williams narrated that Justin Timberlake’s band NSYNC was what people back then called so pimp. They were white boys, but they loved Hip-Hop. To Williams, that’s what separated them from the Backstreet Boys, who seemed very consciously to position themselves as a white group. NSYNC hung out with Black artists. One person tweeted and said that he gagged when it was revealed who Justin Timberlake was throwing on a blaccent for and another added that Michelle Williams doing an impression of Britney Spears doing an impression of Justin Timberlake doing an impression of a Black person. Meanwhile, someone else unearthed footage from a Chris Rock monologue discussing Justin Timberlake’s blaccent.
