George Cloony was a very kind hearted person. We all might know him as an actor, screenwriter and director, but not many of us have paid attention to his humanitarian acts which might have been overlooked. Cloony was a very wealthy person but rather than trying to use it as a powerful weapon against ordinary people, he chose to spend it on charities and share it with others. His kindness and generosity was always evident. Over the years, he had been helping the people of Sudan and was actively involved in organisations that helped various communities in need.

Acting Career

He rose to fame in 2001, after getting commercial success on the comedy remake Ocean’s eleven. Apart from being a filmmaker, he started exploring other forms of producing content in the filmmaking industry, one of the very few to include him becoming a director. He debuted his directing career a year later. The movie was about a spy and his life, it was also a comedy film called ‘Confessions of a Dangerous Mind’. In 2005, he directed a historical drama Goodnight and Goodluck.

Achievements

Cloony won three Golden Globe Awards, and two Academy Awards, one for acting in Syriana 2006 and the other for producing Argo in 2012. He received the AFL Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018. As of 2023, Cloony is one of the four people who have been nominated for Academy Awards in six different categories. He was on Time’s 100 most influential people list every year from 2006 to 2009. He has also served as The United Nations Messengers Of Peace since 2008. Clooney is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

Clooney founded the organisation Not On Our Watch with his Ocean Eleven’s castmates that include some of the famous names such as Brad Pitt to stop the genocide happening in Sudan. He talked to the victims himself and has donated more than a billion dollars to the victims and also the United Nations World Hunger Program. He has supported various causes and organisations for AIDS and Hiv, Autism, civil rights, children, homelessness, health, LGBTQ support and more. As of 2023, he has donated more than a million dollars to the writer’s strike organisation openly coming out to support the cause . The writers and actors have not been paid well, less than the minimum wage and have been surrounded continuously by harsh work environments  while on the other hand the streaming platforms keep making revenue from their flagship shows making the founders richer and richer everyday.
