Kathleen Sue Spielberg is an American painter and actress, professionally known as Kate Capshaw. She was born on 3 November 1953 in Fort Worth, Texas. With an MA in Learning Disabilities, she worked as a teacher. She wanted to be an actor and her desire led her to New York where she landed her first role on the soap The Edge of Night (1956).
While beating out 120 actresses for the female lead in Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom (1984) she met her first husband Steven Spielberg who directed the movie. Since then she starred in various movies like Dreamscape (1984), Power (1986), SpaceCamp (1986), Black Rain (1989), Love Affair (1994), Just Cause (1995), and The Love Letter (1999).
Before marrying Spielberg on October 12, 1991, she converted to Judaism; they were married in both an Orthodox ceremony and a civil ceremony.
